Synopsis
Oliver, 36, feels lonely. So deeply does he long for the joys of family life that he arms himself with chloroform and goes into town, where he kidnaps the neglected wife of a businessman, a lonely old woman, and a small boy who's allergic to house dust. Just to perfect his new-found happiness, a young punk girl falls into his clutches. Together with his new "family", Oliver holes himself up on the 18th floor of a tower block in Berlin. He soon makes clear the rules of family life, and likewise their new names. When Oliver--or "Papa" as he's now known--discovers an old man and a dog in a neighboring flat, his dream family would seem to be complete. The initial fear, chaos and anarchy characterizing the cohabitation of this motley crew gradually gives way to guerrilla warfare that threatens to escalate. But soon every member of the family realizes that the insanity of being Oliver's prisoner is still preferable to the madhouse that awaits outside.
