Brief Synopsis

Ming Dynasty, 1457. A female knight along with her brother attempt to defend the children of an assassinated minister after they are exiled to the remote Dragon Gate Inn. Tension mounts at the inn as guests drift in and each is tested for his/her loyalties and martial arts skills.

Synopsis

In 15th-century China the eunuch Ts'ao Chi-hsiang orders Yu Ch'ien executed and his survivors sent to a Lung-men border inn used as a way station for exiled political refugees. Aiding the murder victim's family are innkeeper Wu Ning, an exiled general; Chu Chi, an old friend of Yu's; her younger sister, Chu Hui, who comes to the inn disguised as a man; and Hsiao Shao-yueh, a young man who assists Wu. After numerous battles and much swordplay, the eunuch Ts'ao Shao-chin, who feared revenge and desired the destruction of the family, is stabbed to death.
