Synopsis

While riding the Wyoming hills in the dead of winter, Tex Yancey meets his old friend Missouri and little Jerry Parker. Missouri, now the sheriff of Elk Valley, is on the trail of Red Becker, a rustler who is stampeding elk across the valley to clear a path in the snow for his stolen cattle. As Missouri and Tex talk, a stampeding herd of elk threatens the life of Jerry's sister Candy, and Tex saves her in the nick of time. Furious at her foreman, Blackie, for failing to fence the range land from the danger of wild elk, Candy fires him and offers his job to Tex. In revenge, Blackie, who is secretly working with Becker, frames Tex for the theft of the Parker payroll and the murder of Limpy, one of the ranch hands. An incensed crowd calls for Tex's lynching, but with the help of Missouri, Tex escapes from jail and snowshoes to Becker's hideout, where he joins the rustlers. There, Becker informs Tex that he is actually Candy's father and therefore the legal owner of the cattle, but Tex does not believe his story. Blackie remains suspicious of Tex, and after capturing Jerry on the trail, decides to let the boy freeze to death. To torment the suspicious Becker, Tex convinces him that a man he thought he had killed is alive and after him. Becker, crazed with fear, runs into the snow and is killed by a fall from a cliff. With Becker's demise, Blackie takes over and, after ordering that Tex and Jerry be left behind to freeze, rides to stampede the Parker cattle. Burning free of his bonds, Tex and Jerry sled down the mountain, and Tex rides to the Parker ranch in time to save Candy, while Jerry rides for Missouri and his posse to bring Blackie and his gang to justice.
