Synopsis

In San Francisco, Belle, the moll of gangster Vance, wants to go straight, and after she tells Vance of her desire, he promises to marry her and reform himself. Vance arranges to meet Belle in the evening, and unknown to Belle, he and his gang rob a bank. He is chased by the police and throws the bag of stolen goods to her as she waits for him, advising her to hide. Belle hides in novelist John Banning's car, and Vance takes down the license number. When John gets into his car, Belle forces him at gunpoint to take her to his mountain cabin. Belle explains her predicament to John, who believes in her innocence and offers to help her return the stolen goods to the police. They are too late, however, as Vance and his gang have followed them to the cabin. During a gunfight, John is shot, and Belle tries to call for help, but she is mortally wounded. The police arrive in time to save John, and all the gangsters are killed.
