Synopsis
Rita is a hairdresser who works in a beauty parlour for dogs. In her spare time she's forced to nurse her prejudice and racist foster mother, Edith. No one else will anymore; Edith has fired nine of the assistants sent by the wellfare office. So when Samir arrives as number ten, he's Rita's last chance for some time on her own. And she really longs to do something more, something else with her life. In her attempt to find herself, Rita gets away for a weekend at a New Age centre. There she meets Knut. He poses as a fellow "seeker" but is actually a furiously competitive tabloid reporter Out to expose the New Age scam. He sees Rita as the perfect, innocent victim. But as it turns out, it is Knut and his media's cynical exploitation of ordinary people that is put to shame here.
