Synopsis
Taken with Lita Morton, the pretty co-owner of a New Mexican ranch, Texas cowboy Bob Worth applies for a job as her foreman but is soundly rejected by her brother Bud. After Bob leaves, Lita and Bud agree to sell their failing ranch to a Mr. Dyer, who offers them a check for $40,000 and $5,000 in cash. While Bob stops to wash his face in a stream, he notices three men on horses exchanging signals with Dyer. Suspicious, Bob heads back for the ranch and sees Bud being shot and robbed of Dyer's money by one of the men. Just as Bob dismounts to inspect Bud, Lita rides up with Dyer and assumes that Bob is her brother's killer. Dyer shoots and wounds a fleeing Bob, who later sees Dyer paying off the men in a secluded canyon. Weakened by his wound, Bob eventually meets up with Gallindo, a Mexican bandit who has been dodging the local sheriff for two years. Although at first suspicious, Gallindo takes Bob to his hideout, where his girl friend Maya tends to his wound. When he has recuperated, Bob, wearing the shirt and badge that the brazen Gallindo has stolen from a deputy sheriff, returns to Lita's ranch to explain about Bud and Dyer, whom Lita has agreed to marry. Lita pretends to believe Bob's story, then while embracing him, pulls his own gun on him. After brawling with Dyer and his men, Bob eludes both the outlaws and the sheriff's posse and returns to Gallindo's. There Bob and Gallindo devise a plot to catch Dyer, in which Gallindo is to pose as a ranch owner who is looking for a buyer for his land. With the sheriff's own property as bait, Gallindo and Bob trick Dyer into buying the ranch, then by dressing him in Gallindo's clothes, set him up to be robbed by his own men in front of the sheriff and Lita. At last cleared of all suspicion, Bob returns to Lita's ranch as her loving foreman, while Gallindo flees to Mexico with Maya.
