Synopsis

Eric, a computer operator at the IBM center in Stockholm, requests a transfer to Barcelona. For his trip he buys a trunk at a shop where three old ladies are buying an identical one, which they prepare so as to accommodate a human body. These three women are pawns of Truman, an international double agent. They blackmail Natasha, the telephone operator at the hot line center in Stockholm, to send insulting messages to American and Russian leaders. The resulting political crisis will benefit Truman. They then conceal Natasha in their trunk and fly to Barcelona on the same flight with Eric. When the group gets off the plane, their luggage is accidentally exchanged. Unpacking in his hotel room, the astonished Eric discovers Natasha in his trunk and calls the police. When they arrive, they find the trunk empty and the hotel porter dead. Natasha and Eric have been abducted by the geriatric trio. During a gun battle between Anderson, the head of American intelligence, and Vastov, his Soviet counterpart, the couple escapes. Natasha is quickly recaptured by the dowagers who have enlisted the aid of a troupe of nimble Chinese acrobats. Although Eric, having persuaded the police of his innocence, rescues Natasha, Truman and his elderly minions elude capture, much to the consternation of their dupes, Anderson and Vastov.
