Synopsis
Charles, a crafty Parisian driven out of the prostitution business by a government crackdown, agrees to the suggestion of an associate, Eric, that they use the brothel as headquarters for a counterfeiting ring. After enlisting the talents of Lucas, a banker, and Robert, a young engraver whose wife, Solange, is having an affair with Eric, Charles tries to interest The Boss, a retired counterfeiter, in the scheme. At first The Boss, who has been living a life of ease in South America, refuses, but he eventually agrees to come and take a look at the setup. Intrigued by the idea and impressed with Robert's skill, he consents to supervise the operation in return for a 50 percent share of the profits. The others, resentful of his exorbitant share, plan to double-cross him by secretly printing more money than had been planned. The Boss outwits them, however, and he and Robert abscond with all of the money to South America.
