Synopsis

On the eve of an inevitable range war between Jeff Randall and Mark Sheldon, Grant Bradley rides onto the Randall Ranch looking for work as a cowboy and gunman. Grant is given the job and soon begins a romance with Randall's daughter Joan. Sheldon, a crooked cattle dealer, has bought property on which a vital transportation route exists and limits access to it to competing ranchers, thus causing the present dispute. Grant is really Sheldon's son, but he keeps this a secret as he is ashamed of the fact that his father killed a rancher five years earlier. Suspicions about Grant are soon raised, however, when he becomes friendly with Deacon Webster, Sheldon's henchman. When Grant rides into town to submit a petition against Sheldon to the circuit judge, Sheldon orders one of his gunmen to stop him, and a fight ensues. After Grant beats up the gunman, he delivers the petition to the judge, who tells Grant that he is not able to protect Randall's rights because Sheldon does, in fact, own the property. Desperate, Grant goes to his father and threatens to expose him if he does not comply with his demands, and Sheldon responds by reaching for his gun. Grant is about to kill Sheldon in self-defense, when Deacon arrives and kills his boss. With the crooked cattlemen out of commission, Grant and Joan are now free to marry.
