Synopsis
A playgirl distracts public accountant Frank Bigelow as radioactive poison is slipped into his drink. The next day, he suffers from stomach pains and goes to a clinic and finds that he has been poisoned and that he has only a short time to live. Searching for a motive that would lead him to his killer, Frank recalls a suspicious uranium sale he recently notarized. Despite a sniper's attempt on his life, a murder, and two more poisonings, Bigelow learns that the uranium was part of a complicated swindle and the killer is Halliday, comptroller to Phillips, an unwitting participant in the swindle. Bigelow confronts Halliday, who falls to his death from the catwalk of an ocean liner. The accountant then staggers to a police station, relates the entire story behind his own murder, and dies.
