Synopsis
Cynthia Warren, an artist leaving for Europe, attracts many male admirers. Although Prince Phillippe de Longville introduces Cynthia to his mother, she refuses to marry him because he is three years younger than she is. Cynthia's boss, Randolph Morgan, asks her to deliver a painting to his office. Randy also wants to marry Cynthia, but she prizes her freedom and does not want the old-fashioned life that he offers. To prevent Cynthia from leaving for Europe, Randy locks her in a bathroom, but a janitor releases her, and she sails on schedule. Phillippe and his mother are also on board the ship, but Cynthia is intrigued by William Lawton, an American living in England. Cynthia also meets Olga Raimoff, a phony Russian who is actually Tessie Burns from Topeka. The two women become friends and Olga tries to warn Cynthia about Bill, but Cynthia is enamored of him and ignores her friend's advice. On arrival in London, after staying out all night with Bill, Cynthia learns that he is married. Later in Paris, at a party in Olga's honor, the Lawtons are present and Bill's wife, Pat, who knows of his philandering, gossips about his escapades. Bill tells Cynthia that he assumed she was a woman of experience. Phillippe arrives drunk at the party and fights with Bill to defend Cynthia's honor. Cynthia sends Phillippe away, and Randy arrives in Paris to take care of her. When Bill recovers from his injuries, he apologizes to Phillippe. A disenchanted Cynthia leaves for home, followed by Randy. After she admits that she loves him, they decide to marry.
