Synopsis

Engineer John Logan is promoted to working on the Cannonball Express, but is demoted after an accident caused by his son Jack's negligence is blamed on him. After losing money at craps, Jack steals some of his father's money, and uses this to win back his losses. His gambling partners turn out to be robbers, however, and he betrays his father to them, after which they hold up the Cannonball Express. John's other son Ned finds his father injured and brings the train to safety. Sally, Ned's girl friend, who used to be in love with Jack, overhears Jack arguing with the crooks over his share of the stolen money and, brings Ned to the scene after she hears a shot fired. Ned finds Jack mortally wounded and is arrested as his murderer, after which John disowns him. Jack's dying confession clears Ned of all guilt, and after John recovers, Ned and Sally marry.
