Synopsis
While panning for gold in a remote area of the Old West, Tom, a young prospector, receives a mysterious note urging him to return to the town he had left while still a child. He discovers upon his arrival that neither his alcoholic half brother, Jeff, nor the loyal family housekeeper, Mercedes, is able to provide any information concerning the urgent request. Tom learns that the town is under the tyrannical control of an old man, Scott, and his sadistic, crazed son, Jason, who has usurped the ranch belonging to Tom's family. Attempting to confront Scott at the ranch, Tom is brutally bullwhipped by Jason and his henchmen. When Mercedes is killed by Jason's men, Jeff sobers up and accompanies Tom on a second visit to the ranch. The men gun down the guards to gain entrance to Scott, who confesses that he sent the note and that he is Tom's father. Scott reveals that Jason is responsible for all the bloodshed, whereupon Jason turns on his father and kills him. Tom and Jeff then shoot down Jason's henchmen, and Tom kills Jason in a gunfight, thus regaining the ranch that is his birthright and setting the town free from tyranny.
