Synopsis
The desperate loneliness of Joanna Benton's life as the wife of desert prospector Tom Benton is interrupted by the appearance of a wounded fugitive eluding a posse. She gives him shelter in a lean-to, into which Benton also invites a peddler to spend the night. When the peddler is robbed and murdered, the fugitive is charged, but Joanna reveals that she nursed the accused in her own room all through the night. Benton's enormous indignation is ended by the fugitive's counteraccusation of the peddler's murder, and evidence on Benton's person proves him guilty.
