Synopsis

In a letter, Cattlemen's Association investigator Bill Barlow invites government agents Crash Corrigan, Denny Moore and Alibi Terhune to help him investigate rustlers who have been selling beef on the black market. Crash arrives just after rustler Slade kills Bill, and is then framed by Slade for the murder. Sheriff Harley releases Crash after Alibi shows him the letter from Bill, but they decide to pretend that Crash is still in jail in order to watch Slade's activities. Denny, meanwhile, is hired as a ranch hand at the Prescott ranch, which has been hard hit by the rustlers. One night, Crash slips out of the jail and visits the Prescotts, just as Slade drives by and attempts to shoot Prescott from his car. Crash and Denny then reveal their true identities to Prescott, who pledges his support. Crash and Alibi later search Slade's barn and soon suspect that Slade has been transporting stolen cattle in his truck. When Denny intercepts one of the rustlers' guards near the Prescott ranch, he suspects that a cattle raid is being planned and rounds up a posse. Later, Alibi cleverly avoids being drugged by saloon owner Corbin's bartender, but pretends to collapse and overhears Corbin's plans to raid Prescott's cattle before dark. Alibi escapes and reports to Crash, who arrests Corbin, the gang's ringleader, after a fierce fistfight. While the posse waits in hiding, Denny captures the rustlers' truck driver, and sends their friend Slim to drive the truck instead. Crash, Denny and Alibi hide in the back of the truck and come out shooting when the rustlers open the door. Slade and the rustlers are arrested and their guns are thrown into a scrap metal heap, while Crash urges everyone to buy meat from honest dealers.
