Synopsis

An actor in a theatrical troupe is brought to a small town and hired by a social climber to impersonate an English lord because another social climber is giving a party for a supposedly real lord. After an actress from the troupe impersonates the "lord's" titled sister, and her husband poses as his valet, a maid discovers the couple in the same bedroom and spreads a rumor that the lady and the lord's valet are having an affair. The other lord turns out to be an impersonator, and it is discovered that the actor really is a lord.
