Synopsis
Follows the women that helped to rebuild Africa. In 2006, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was the first woman ever elected head of state in Africa and she was left with the task to fix a country where almost everything was broken. Liberia had endured vicious recent civil wars that saw unspeakable atrocities, including child soldiers pressed into battle. In approaching this momentous challenge, she put together a remarkable team of women--Antoinette Sayeh, the new finance minister, a no-nonsense figure charged with repairing the economy and tackling corruption, and Beatrice Munah Sieh, the new chief of police, heading a force that has no guns and little notion of how to maintain order without them. But the looming question that hovered over them while they tried to achieve progress: how quickly can they improve their lives when the country faces a crushing debt of almost four billion dollars?
