Synopsis
Paruthiyur in Ramnad district in southern India is a dry, arid region whose inhabitants look to the skies every day of their lives. They are poor and have to eke out their living in the three months when cultivation is possible. Earnings are frugal, and bloody violence is a way of life. The region is dominated by the Thevar community, a fierce, emotional warrior clan, propelled by caste fanaticism. They kill easily when their self respect is hurt. The film explores the relationship between two strong individuals--a half-caste criminal and a girl from the Thevar community who loves him obsessively, and must face the consequences of her passion.
