Synopsis
Jazz musician Michel Pollard agrees to help Cathy, his ex-wife, take revenge on the two wealthy men whose dishonesty caused her father's ruin. With two accomplices, Reynaldo and Charlie, they go to an island off Brittany where Bontemps, their first target, resides. Posing as an engineer from a German optical firm, Michel cons Bontemps into the belief that the island's sand is extremely valuable, and Bontemps is swindled out of 400,000 francs. When the group returns to Paris, Cathy, with the help of two hired thugs, doublecrosses Reynaldo and Charlie. She and Michel take all the money and go to the Riviera where she has located the second swindler, Lachard, who is addicted to the races. Michel, posing as a veterinarian involved with a gang that drugs racehorses, and Cathy, posing as his wife, swindle Lachard out of 600,000 francs by means of an elaborate betting scheme. Reynaldo and the two thugs catch up with Michel and Cathy, and when they threaten Cathy, Michel gives them the key to the airport locker in which he has supposedly hidden the money. Actually, Michel has checked the money in a flight bag with the airport florist. Michel learns that their first victim was the wrong man. He and Cathy claim the flight bag, return 400,000 francs to Bontemps, and, with the remaining 200,000 francs, fly away for a vacation. On the same flight, openly displaying his diamonds, is a wealthy jeweler. ...
