Synopsis
After successfully completing an assignment for a ring of international smugglers, Parisian David Ladislas receives orders to deliver a shipment of gold to Lebanon using a Triumph convertible for transport. Accompanying him is Olga, who apparently has more knowledge of the operation than David. He tries persistently to woo information from her but learns only that the gold is hidden somewhere in the car. Arriving in Beirut, David decides to doublecross the ruthless organization head, Fehrman, and steal the gold for himself despite Olga's objections. They pass customs safely, and, eluding police, travel first to Athens and then to Naples as David attempts to find a buyer for the contraband gold. Fehrman is alerted and traps David, who is forced to drive the car down a steep embankment; the frightened Olga has meanwhile returned to Germany. David tracks down Olga in Bremen, and they await the arrival of the Triumph, which has been loaded aboard a ship. As the vehicle is being unloaded the next day, it catches fire, and the gold, which was coated on in layers under the paint, begins to melt. David and Olga escape as the police retrieve the fortune in melted gold.
