Synopsis
After being appreciated by all and devoted to her handicapped husband, Rejeanne finds herself in custody with her hands covered in blood and a murder suspect. Here, we retrace the chronology of events to understand what happened that night, charting the desperate trajectory of a woman against whom the fates seem to have conspired. A telephone operator for over twenty years, Rejeanne has just bought, with her truck driver husband Gilles, the house of their dreams in the countryside. Both from working-class backgrounds, the forty-something couple is finally enjoying the routine pleasures of domesticity. But then Gilles has a heart attack that leaves him physically and mentally impaired. Bad luck seems to follow them. The couple have still more to deal with when Rejeanne's job is cut back. There is a moment in which it seems that everything might work out, before fate again intervenes with even greater malevolence.
