Synopsis
Maria lives in Paris, Leo in Brussels. They have been separated for a year. Despite the distance between them, they cannot quite make the final break. By day, Leo is a psychoanalyst. In the evening, he goes to see his father who is suffering Alzheimer's, before taking over for his sister Clara at the family grocery store. Exhausted, he can no longer juggle all his commitments, and pressured by Clara, agrees to drive his father to an assisted living facility in Ostend. In Paris, Maria is not happy in her work. Wandering in a distracted state, she is hit by a car and leaves the city on a sudden impulse to see Leo. She arrives in Brussels the day Leo and his father are leaving and decides to join them. They have a great time on their journey. Once they reach the seaside, Leo's father is welcomed into his new home. In order to forget their grief, Maria and Leo end up spending the evening dancing and drinking--they begin to feel like a couple again. The next day, Maria cannot bear to leave Leo's father and decides to abduct him but soon after he escapes. Leo and Maria then separate to find him and when they join up again, they reminisce about old times.
