Synopsis
Dr. Knox, a professor of anatomy in Edinburgh in 1828, buys bodies from two Irish grave robbers who frequently resort to murder when there is a shortage of bodies. Knox's assistant, George Cole, becomes aware of the origin of the bodies when he recognizes the corpse of Adrienne Corri, a young woman whom he had met at a bar. Cole protests to Knox, but he is rebuffed until an angry mob threatens to hunt down the professor. The grave robbers are arrested; Knox is implicated in the resulting scandal; Cole manages to appease the mob; and the students continue to attend Dr. Knox's lectures.
