Synopsis

Heir Robert Hayes falls in love with Mary Smith. His father believes she is too lowly for his son, and tries to bribe her away from him, however, Mary rejects the bribe. Mary is intent on revenge against gangster Snowy Hoagland, who framed her innocent brother for a crime for which he was executed. Because Mary is the last person to have seen the district attorney alive, she is accused of his murder. Robert stands by her side, and police finally prove that the Hoagland also killed the district attorney, because Mary gave him evidence proving Hoagland's guilt, and her brother's innocence. Note: Although the exact ending of the film has not been determined, Var 's review noted a scene in which alcohol was used to wash off thumbprints from a piece of evidence. With the use of reagents, the suspect's prints later reappeared because he had lemon juice on his hand from mixing a drink when he handled the evidence.
