Synopsis

U. S. Marshall Lamar Blyth is on the trail of John Clark and his pal Bootch McCrumb, who he believes are members of the Kootney Kid gang. The two men are attacked by the gang, and Blyth helps them escape, but is injured in the fight. Blyth is taken to a Mexican's camp to recover, where he gives his badge to John with instructions to capture the Kid and his gang. The Kid has intercepted a letter to John, which proclaims him the owner of a piece of land that is rich in oil. The Kid plans to obtain the property, but his scheme is discovered by Joan, John's sweetheart, who informs John of the plan. John and Bootch are present in court when the Kid lays claim to the property, but John is arrested for Blyth's death. John and Bootch escape their captors and chase after the Kid who is on his way to kill Blyth. John and Bootch witness the Kid murder his partner Simi when the two men argue, and while Bootch stays with the dying man, John goes after the Kid. The sheriff arrives in time to hear Simi's confession, and the Kid is arrested while John and Joan make plans for a wedding.
