Synopsis

Adam Chance, undercover agent for H. A. R. M. (Human Actiological Relations Machine), is assigned by security chief Jim Graff to investigate the mysterious murder of the assistant to Prof. Janos Steffanic, who escaped from behind the Iron Curtain and has resumed research in the United States. Steffanic is working on an antidote for a spore from outer space that converts human flesh to fungus, and Chance learns from Steffanic that Malko, his former superior, intends to infect American crops with the spore. When two of Malko's henchmen attempt to abduct Steffanic and his niece Ava, Chance kills the henchmen and rescues Ava, but the professor disappears. Chance then goes to Malko's refuge in Mexico, which he has discovered by hiding in Malko's truck; and in a battle between Chance on a motorcycle and Malko and his men in an observer plane, Chance kills all but Malko. In the final struggle, both Steffanic and Malko come into contact with the spore. Malko shrivels and dies immediately, and the professor, though he has taken the antidote, also dies before it takes effect. Chance finds the enemy agent, Ava, who had impersonated Steffanic's long-lost niece, and arrests her.
