Synopsis
While serving a term in an eastern penitentiary, Marian falls in love with Bradford, a physician serving a life sentence for a murder of which she believes him to be innocent. Frank Egan, an underworld leader who has unsuccessfully sought Marian's love, operates a hotel that serves as a blind for his operations and meets Marian when she is released. To her surprise Egan offers to free Bradford and force Smith, who needs money desperately, to confess to the crime; after securing Bradford's release, Egan holds him and threatens his life unless Marian will allow him (Egan) to make love to her; she refuses and shoots him, but when Bradford gives him medical aid, the gang leader repents and confesses to the crime for which Bradford was convicted.
