Synopsis
Sweden, 1951. Gertrud is the eldest daughter in a poor family. One day, the authorities interfere with their lives, placing Gertrud at a work home for young women. The only way out is voluntary sterilization. Gertrud fights back, helping several comrades to get out of the home. There is no rescue for her, but maybe she can save yet another life by sacrificing herself.
