Story is inspired by Andrew Wight's near-death experience leading a diving expedition into an underwater cave system, only to have a freak storm collapse the cave entrance, leaving the divers trapped. The two-day battle for survival was recounted in the documentary "Nullarbor Dreaming" (Australia/1989).

Gary Johnstone was previously attached to direct.
