Synopsis
In a village of Silesia, along the road to school, Maly and his friends discuss the scary stories told to them by their parents about a violent man that caused his son to run away. Maly's father dies mysteriously one day in a mining accident and, shortly thereafter, a rumor spreads that a hyena has run away and is threatening the townspeople. A horribly disfigured man on the run returns to the caravan in which the man from the stories that frighten the children used to live. Maly helps him, bringing him food, while, in the meantime, another man who the children meet on the way to school every day disappears, along with the elderly postman and one of Maly's girlfriends. The idea that the mysterious "Hyena" is behind these deaths becomes increasingly more suspect to the sensitive little boy.
