Synopsis
A documentary that follows the piercing stories of ordinary people, many of whom have lost loved ones in the conflict, who refuse to sit back as the Israeli/Palestinian conflict escalates. The film is about everyday leaders--a former Israeli settler, a Palestinian ex-prisoner, a bereaved Israeli mother, a wounded Palestinian bereaved brother--who risk their lives and public standing to promote a nonviolent end to the conflict. Navigating suicide bombings and roadside checkpoints, their journeys lead them to the unlikeliest places to stem hatred among their peoples and confront fear, anger, and grief within themselves. They make a conscious choice to turn away from the inflammatory rhetoric of the media and the politicians, and instead take their cues from nonviolent figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Nelson Mandela. But how does one of the most divisive and explosive conflicts in the history of the world get resolved? The chronicle explores what drives these people, and thousands of other like-minded civilians, to overcome their losses to work for peace.
