Synopsis

Like a quarter of Vancouver's itinerant youth, street kids Melo and Ti-Criss made the trip West from Quebec, seeking escape and adventure, and maybe even the meaning of life. For now, their only certainty is their love of each other. From East to West, from the streets to a hotel, with a welcome interlude in the country, they seek their place in an unwelcoming society, often finding only boredom. Even getting high doesn't always chase away the tedium, and in an effort to reconnect with home, the pair return to Montreal. However, the familar patterns that drove them out in the first place return: Ti-Criss can't stick with the demands of his youth center and he heads back out west with Melo. During a brief happy season picking fruit in the Okanagan, the couple find themselves with a new challenge: Melo is pregnant. Initially, the couple renews their commitment to each other, but after a life of hard knocks and unbearable wounds from a painful childhood, Ti-Criss withdraws into a deep depression, throwing the couple into crisis once again.
