Synopsis
Five-year-old Gilson and his sister Gami are orphans who wander the countryside searching for their mother. As they wind their way through the forests and mountains, they are by chance discovered by monks who live on the hillside. Taken under their wing in body and spirit, both children will lead a quiet life in the monastery. One day one of the monks, Seol-jeong, proposes that Gilson, who misses his mother deeply, accompany him to a small temple in the mountains. There he will learn to pray to open his mind's eye, eager to be able to see his mother just once and to teach his blind sister to see the world again. Gilson spends his winter learning about life and the teachings of Buddha. But one night, he is left alone in the temple because Seol-jeong has been trapped in a snowstorm covering the mountainside.
