Synopsis

Several overlapping tales unfold during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Central to them are Sean Sullivan, a womanising comedian who channels his jealously into cruelty and votes tactically rather than honestly when judging the comedy awards. A clash with fellow panellist Joan Gerard exposes his vanity although Joan's own story--which includes a flirtation with comedian Tommy O'Dwyer. Other characters reeling from Sullivan's selfishness include his long-suffering PA Petra and his new conquest Nicky. She's a fledgling comedienne who may have more talent than Sullivan first assumes. As these and other characters hover in the shadows of his fame, we're given a wry look at the effects of adulation on a fragile ego.
