Synopsis

Faro Black, the chief of the Gypsies, returns to camp in the South just after Egypt and his son Faro have completed their marriage vows. Angered, the chief tells them that the wedding means nothing, as Egypt is really the daughter of Gordon Lindsay, a wealthy man who is coming to claim her. Thus the lovers are torn apart, but vow to remain true to each other. In her new home, Egypt is unhappy and her love for Faro turns to bitterness when he does not return for her. In truth, Faro is being held prisoner by his relentless father, who, on his death bed, startles Faro with the information that Egypt is not Lindsay's daughter, but a member of the gypsies. After his father dies, Faro goes to Egypt, only to find her engaged to Nicholas Van Kleet. When the sheriff's brother insults Egypt, Faro kills the offender, and the posse sets out after the gypsy. He finds safety in Egypt's apartment, and on the eve of her marriage, the gypsy girl acknowledges her love for Faro. Van Kleet permits them to escape and they return to the gypsies, where Egypt finds happiness among her people.
