Synopsis

In 17th-century Japan, three scrolls called Yagyu Bugeicho are secretly kept by three separate households. If put together, the scrolls could ruin the Yagyu family, overthrow the ruling government, and disrupt the country's peace. Although the three families zealously guard their scrolls, one of the households is robbed of its scroll by the Ryuzoji clan, led by Princess Yuhime. Jubei, eldest son of the Yagyu family and a master swordsman, pursues the princess and her clan in order to retrieve the scroll. Meanwhile, another clan, also desperately wanting the scrolls, assigns a magician-samurai, Tasaburo, and his brother Senshiro to steal them.
