Synopsis
On 14 October 1939, Lieut. Comdr. Günther Prien, a German war hero commanding a U--47, infiltrates Scapa Flow, a Scottish bay housing the British Home Fleet. He destroys the battleship Royal Oak and safely brings his submarine out of the harbor. Within 2 years, his U-boat is sunk by a British destroyer. Prien and the vessel's cook are taken aboard a hostile freighter, which itself is torpedoed by a German submarine commanded by Prien's close friend, who is horrified to find Prien's cap amidst the debris. The friend's U-boat is in turn attacked by a British aircraft and sunk.
