Synopsis
Gabrielle, a mute who is unable to respond to her fiancé's sexual advances, mutilates her face after he rapes her. At the hospital, she meets Dr. Matson, who gains her confidence and convinces her to move into his home during her convalescence. She falls under his spell and joins the "family" of followers whose activities center on sexual exhibitionism and senseless murder. Convinced by Matson that she is working toward a cure, Gabrielle brutally kills a man she has never met. The doctor forces her to probe her subconscious; she recalls her traumatic adolescence and a sexual encounter with her father, a religious hypocrite. Shocked into a realization that he has used her as a tool when she finds him gratifying his desire with two of his female followers, she struggles between self-destruction and the murder of the megalomaniac doctor.
