Synopsis

Hansel and Gretel live with their parents in a cottage in the woods; unable to pay the rent, the poor family is threatened with eviction by the landlord. The children decide to search for the gingerbread house, inhabited by the witch of the forest, in order to find her treasure and bring it back to their family. They find the house but are captured by the witch; she fattens Hansel, planning to bake him in her oven and eat him, and forces Gretel to work in her house. One day, Gretel pushes the witch into the oven and frees Hansel as the house burns. The children return home with the treasure of gold and jewels.
