Synopsis

Myra Dymsley has developed a talent for painting and decides to leave her home town, as well as her sweetheart, Stephen Wright, and move to New York to study art in earnest. Then, when her father cannot raise the funds to send her there, Stephen gives him the money, on the condition that Myra remain unaware of the source of the donation. Once established in New York, Myra's paintings attract the attention of connoisseurs, while Myra herself attracts the attention of wealthy dilettante Robert Lawton. Myra soon falls in love with him, but Robert eventually grows tired of her, and casually ends their affair. Then, when Robert's sister learns of his jilting Myra, she forces him to go back to her and propose marriage. Myra rejects him, however, and when Stephen comes to New York to propose, she turns him down too, and insists that, for now, her top priority is her painting.
