Synopsis
Solomon McQuire and Horatius Q. Olson, crooked New York politicians, flee to the country with Ruby Swift, a detective, close behind them. After purchasing a dilapidated automobile, the pair arrives in Hicktown in time for the annual mayoral race and with their urban political savvy, using suffrage as their platform, easily challenge the crusty incumbent. To assure their victory, however, they enlist the help of Ruby, posing as an adventuress, to steal some of the ballot boxes. Horace, a suitor for the mayor's daughter, accuses Tom Davis, his romantic rival and a former candidate for mayor, of the crime, and Tom is sent to jail. As the politician's new secretary, Ruby seduces both men in the hopes that jealousy between them will reveal the whereabouts of the stolen boxes and vindicate Tom. After several clever maneuvers, Ruby locates the boxes and brings the politicians to justice.
