Synopsis

When cardsharp Ellis Gale threatens to disclose that Charles Dunn forged his uncle John Raby's name on a check to pay for losses at cards, Dunn promises to repay Gale after he marries Raby's daughter Alice, but Alice, who loves Ralph Crane, refuses Dunn's proposal. After Dunn learns that Raby is attempting to communicate with his dead wife Miriam through a medium, Madame Kautsky, Dunn bribes Kautsky, and during a séance a vision of Miriam tells Raby that Alice must marry Dunn. Meanwhile, Gale, who has stolen love letters from Marion Lake, Ralph's married sister, to Dunn, is murdered. After Marion's husband, Dr. Lake, is accused, Tex, "Elucidator of Mysteries," investigates and learns that a veiled woman was seen at the murder site. During a séance, he captures the veiled woman, who looks like Miriam, and reveals that the woman really is Dunn, Miriam's nephew, who killed Gale when he went to retrieve the forged check. Dr. Lake and Marion are reconciled, while Raby agrees to Alice's marriage to Ralph.
