Synopsis

Marie Clark, who works as an astrologer named Madame Thebe, tells the story of her past life to Henry Martin, a client who wishes to marry her. Years before, her jealous husband had threatened the life of another of her clients, Franklin Davis. Marie fainted during a struggle between the two and awoke to find her husband dead and a revolver in her hand. The threat of exposure from Davis forced her to give up her daughter and move to a distant city with him, where she met and fell in love with a man named Phillip Morse. Now transferred to New York, Morse falls in love with Marie's grown daughter Violet, and Marie, not knowing the identity of Morse's lover, sends Davis to break up the romance. After she learns that Violet is her daughter, Martin obtains evidence that Davis is the murderer of Marie's first husband. Marie tells her daughter the story of the past and agrees to marry Martin.
