Synopsis

An exposition of curiosities of human behavior, chiefly in Italy, Scandinavia, Japan, India, Africa, and Brazil. Included are scenes depicting tribal circumcision rites; male geishas; snake eating; the mauling of children by Gypsies to make them better acrobats; the wrestling rites of Brazilian headhunters; African sorcery; "railway roulette" in Scandinavia; the quest for eternal youth; the use of burning bamboo to prevent infection of human wounds; the initiation of a Buddhist novitiate; poverty in India; gauchos in a game in which a live duck is the ball; and children hung on festival parade floats in Italy.
