Synopsis

Bertram Oliphant West--known as Bo--is unjustly accused of cheating at cricket by Bagshaw, his rival for the affections of Lady Jane Ponsonby. Accompanied by his faithful manservant Simpson, he departs England to enlist in the Foreign Legion. After reporting to Commandant Burger and Captain Le Pice at Fort Sidi Bel Abbes, they hear Sergeant Nocker relating stories of his heroic adventures on desert patrol. Bo, however, has learned from local cafe proprietress Zigzig that the sergeant actually spends his time sleeping in her back room. When Sergeant Nocker is confronted with this revealing information, their "friendship" is ensured. The three men are lured by belly dancer Corktip into capture by the unscrupulous Sheik Abdul Abulbul, who plans to capture the legion fort. Lady Jane, now aware of Bo's innocence and determined to find him, stumbles upon Abulbul, who becomes infatuated with her. Eventually the men escape, rescue Lady Jane, and secure the fort against the Arabs. Bo and Lady Jane return to England.
