Synopsis
From the Swedish ocean liner S.S. Kungsholm , shots of the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty are shown. At sea, footage showing life on board the ship, the games and other activities of the passengers, is presented. After landing in Sweden, the cities of Gothenberg, Saro and Marstrand are featured and are followed by a tour of the Gota Canal. Highlights of Stockholm include footage of noiseless street cars, workmen's cottages and spotless streets and neighborhoods. In the countryside, the film travels from the Saterglanten weaving school for girls at Dalecarlia, to Visby, a walled town on Gotland, an island in the Baltic Sea. In Visby, a festival, in which the townspeople wear costumes of the twelfth century, is depicted. Also presented are the medieval castles and stately ruins of Gothenberg, the birthplace of Gothic architecture. Shots of the interior of a Swedish electric train and footage of the launching of the Kungsholm for the United States conclude the film.
