Synopsis

Nat Duncan, formerly a rich wastrel, falls on bad financial times after his father dies bankrupt and he enters into several unsuccessful business ventures. His old college friend, the industrious Harry Kellogg, hires him, but he is soon dismissed for overextending his expense account. In desperation, Harry proposes a bargain to Nat: Harry will give him $500 capital if Nat will move to a small town, give up all of his vices and marry a rich woman. Nat goes to Radville where he becomes a model citizen and helps to make pharmacist Sam Graham, also an inventor, a rich drug store owner. Nat falls in love with Graham's daughter Betty, but only after he has become engaged to Josie and has experienced many misadventures. In the end, Nat is freed from his engagement to Josie, Betty accepts his proposal, and he and Graham invent a successful incendiary device which can be dropped from airplanes.
