Synopsis
A miner and his discontented wife become partners in a claim with an Easterner. When they strike gold, the Easterner registers the mine solely in his name, then runs away with the wife, who soon divorces the husband. The miner tracks them down and unsuccessfully tries to kill the Easterner. He then finds the couple's infant daughter, lost in the snow, and decides to raise her as his own. Years later, after the Easterner has been jailed for embezzling, the woman seeks work as a housekeeper. An agency sends her to the home of a wealthy man, whom the woman recognizes as her first husband. The Easterner is killed trying to escape from jail, and so the woman remarries her first husband and is once again the mother of her child.
