Synopsis
After crooked lawyer Frank Blake secretly discovers that oil has been found on Tom Johnson's ranch, he instructs his henchman, Finch, to get rid of Johnson and his neighboring rancher, Pablo Martínez. At that moment, Martínez comes to consult with Blake, and Finch shoots him in the back. Sometime later, Pepe Martínez, Pablo's brother, arrives in the area accompanied by The Texas Kid, who goes by the name Don Sturges. Meanwhile, Finch sends four men to ambush Johnson as he returns to his ranch and they attack him and leave him for dead. Blake has created a phony will whereby Finch inherits all of Johnson's property, but when Finch tries to evict Johnson's children, Betty, Sis and Bobby, he is driven off at gunpoint. After The Texas Kid and Pepe meet Betty and learn of her predicament, they go to work for her and reclaim her herd of horses, which Finch had removed. When Finch demands that the sheriff arrest The Texas Kid for stealing the horses, The Kid produces a bill of sale from Tom Johnson to Don Sturges for all of his livestock. After the sheriff accepts this and leaves, The Kid reveals that Johnson is still alive and that he and Pepe had found him and nursed him back to health. Later, Finch hires Baden, a gunman, to kill The Kid and Pepe and he lures them into a trap, only to discover that they are old friends. Baden joins forces with them and tells them about the oil on the Johnson ranch and that Finch and Blake murdered Pablo. During a shootout with Finch and his men, Finch tries to escape but is shot by Pepe in retribution for the death of his brother. When Betty offers The Kid a job on the ranch, her father reveals that The Kid is actually a Texas Ranger on an assignment. However, The Kid tells Betty that he intends to resign from the Rangers and will return to her.
