Synopsis

Edison summary: Shows an ugly looking old tramp cuddled up in a heap on a park bench. A nurse girl is seated beside him with a little girl. A blue-coated friend of the nurse comes along and they enter into a very loving conversation. Finally he induces her to take a little walk. Forgetting the baby, she accompanies him, and as soon as they are out of sight, the tramp wakes up. He sees the little one alone, and seeing a good chance to get some money, takes it away with him. Hastening along until he comes to a turn in the path, he takes the little one into the bushes and puts a ragged coat and hat on it. He then marches off with the child until a fountain is reached. Here he stops to give the child a drink of water, and as they wait a number of people pass. Seeing the child's ragged clothes, they give the tramp some money. In the meantime the cop and nurse return to the bench and discover the loss of the child. A search is started and the kidnapper is caught as he is receiving money and the child is recovered. A lively fight ensues between the tramp, cop and men who come to the policeman's assistance, and "Weary Willie" is hustled off to the lockup.
